Author Bio

Hello — I’m Hashim Hashmi, the editor and lead writer at Velo Magazine. I’ve been riding for years: road first, then gravel, then a slightly unhealthy interest in long-distance days out that begin before sunrise. Velo Magazine is where I write about all of it.

My aim with this site is straightforward: cycling coverage that’s actually useful. That means bike and kit reviews based on real miles rather than a spec sheet, training advice that fits around a job and a family, routes worth the train fare, and maintenance guides written for people working on a kitchen floor rather than in a pro team truck. I also cover the racing — the Tour, the Classics, and British domestic scene — because the sport is half the fun.

I test what I write about. If a piece of kit is overpriced, uncomfortable, or simply worse than something half the price, I’ll say so. Where a review involves a product supplied by a brand, or a link that earns the site a commission, that’s disclosed clearly on the page. Nobody buys a good review here.

Got a route recommendation, a product you’d like tested, or a correction to make? The contact page is open and I read everything. See you out on the road.
